MLB awards pension benefits to a "new" group of retirees

In an official announcement that is expected to be made at 2PM EST today, MLB and the MLBPA have reached an agreement that will award pension benefits to the approximately 870 retirees that did not play the required four years between 1947-1979 for vesting.

Much of their plight is detailed in Doug Gladstone's book, "A Bitter Cup of Coffee: How MLB and the Players Association Threw 874 Retirees a Curve."

More information will be provided after the press conference.
