Gene Michael receives 2013 Firefighters Charitable Foundation Humanitarian Award

Frank Tepedino (r.) presents Gene Michael with the Humanitarian Award
Former New York Yankees teammates Gene Michael and Frank Tepedino had a greater reason Thursday evening to celebrate than any victory they ever had together on the field when Tepedino presented Michael with the 2013 Firefighters Charitable Foundation Humanitarian Award.

Michael received the honor due to his work with the Ed Lucas Foundation, organizing their annual charitable Golf Classic to raise funds to assist the blind and visually impaired.

Michael and Tepedino were teammates together on the Yankees from 1969-1972.
